Your assignment
As an intern, you will explore how agentic AI can be applied within finite element analysis environments. You will work with ansys mechanical, mechanical APDL, python automation, and modern AI technologies to assess the possibilities and limitations of AI-assisted engineering workflows.
Your activities may include:
- Setting up, solving, and evaluating structural simulations in ansys mechanical and mechanical APDL;
- Investigating how AI coding assistants can generate and modify python and APDL scripts;
- Connecting AI agents to ansys environments through available python interfaces;
- Developing demonstrators in which AI agents support simulation, post-processing, or reporting tasks;
- Exploring how AI can inspect model information and solver output;
- Evaluating different levels of automation, from AI-assisted scripting to partially autonomous workflows;
- Exploring standardized interfaces such as the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to connect engineering tools with AI systems;
- Documenting findings and assessing the practical applicability of Agentic AI in engineering environments.
