Are you an experienced systems engineer and looking to apply your knowledge and skills in a diverse range of projects? Then you are the engineer we’re looking for!
About Demcon
Each one of our companies differentiates itself in its own domain with unique expertise and skills. This way they help customers improve their performance and achieve more. On the basis of their passion for technology our companies are able to combine forces. By sharing knowledge and working together we increase our social impact.
Demcon high-tech systems is a multidisciplinary development and engineering partner for mechatronic challenges, from concept to realization, in the field of high-tech systems.
What are you going to do?
As one of our systems engineers you use your technical insight and experience to lay the groundwork for the architecture and system breakdown within your project. You have a direct line with the customer and the project team in coming up with the system requirements. You are responsible for the correct identification, definition and management of requirements along with defining verification methods for these requirements. You are able to gauge the impact of requirements on each other and on deliverables by means of e.g. error budgets. This is where your conceptual and analytic skills come to the fore. You also provide input to senior system engineers or system architects for scope and effort estimates of work packages.
During the entire development process you keep track of the technical risks and design progress for your work packages. When design decisions need to be made, you are one of the principal players and guide the discussion, e.g. by means of trade-offs. Furthermore you support the other engineers in your team in a coaching role.
In the detailed design and assembly and test phase, you dive into the details and work closely together with the rest of the team to achieve a system which can be built and verified. At the conclusion of verification testing you make sure all requirements are satisfied, and if not, take steps for mitigation.
The projects you will be working on range from products in the semiconductor industry to medical devices. Specifically, you will start working on developing free-space optical communication modules on satellites.
You will be working in multidisciplinary teams, with external development partners and in regular consultation with customers. Communication and cooperation are therefore vitally important to achieve the results we strive for.
What do you bring to the table?
- Completed a BSc or MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Material Science, Aerospace Engineering, or similar.
- You have a minimum 5 years of experience working in a systems engineering role in a multidisciplinary context
- You can work independently, shoulder big responsibilities and have the communication skills to explain your work to others.
- You enjoy coaching other engineers.
- Experience with Jama, or similar requirements management software, is an advantage.
- Affinity with opto-mechatronic systems is an advantage.
