Are you looking to solve complex control problems and build creative control systems? Are you looking to apply your knowledge of control theory within diverse projects? Then you are the engineer we’re looking for!
About Demcon
Each one of our companies differentiates itself in its own domain with unique expertise and skills. This way they help customers improve their performance and achieve more. On the basis of their passion for technology our companies are able to combine forces. By sharing knowledge and working together we increase our social impact. Demcon high-tech systems is a multidisciplinary development and engineering partner for mechatronic challenges, from concept to realization, in the field of high-tech systems.
What are you going to do?
As one of our control engineers you use your technical insight and experience to devise and implement solutions to the control problems within our projects.
Within our projects we develop products for, among others, the semiconductor, healthcare and aerospace industries.
Based on the overarching system requirements, set up by the project’s system architect and system engineers, you distill the control requirements. You then set out to develop an optimal control architecture and design whilst working closely with the other disciplines in your team. This is where your conceptual and analytic skills come to the fore.
You analyze and model the dynamics of the system under different use cases and machine states. This involves creating mathematical models and models from experimental data to be able to predict the system’s response to passive and active inputs. This is done for example in Python, Matlab or Simulink.
You are able to gauge the impact of your control algorithms and design on achieving the required stability and also anticipate impact on the other aspects of the system. In doing so you weigh the benefits of your design versus the costs.
In addition you help the team with system engineering activities where the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment is important.
In the detailed design phase, you dive into the details and work closely together with the rest of the team to achieve a system which can be built and verified. During the integration and test phase, you build up the system and set up and execute a test plan to validate your system against the requirements. At the conclusion of verification testing you make sure the requirements are satisfied, and if not, take steps for mitigation. At the customer site you are on hand to troubleshoot and resolve control-related issues.
You will be working in small and large teams, with external development partners and in regular consultation with customers. Communication and cooperation are therefore vitally important to achieve the results we strive for.
What do you bring to the table?
- Completed a BSc or MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering, Control Engineering, Physics, or similar.
- You have a minimum 3 years of experience working in a control engineering role in a multidisciplinary and high-tech context.
- You can work independently, have a proactive attitude and have the communication skills to explain your work to others.
- You have experience working with Matlab, Simulink or similar design tools
- Experience with developing aerospace systems is an advantage.
What do we offer you?
At Demcon we have a ‘flat’ organization where people can easily find and help each other. We value a comfortable and inclusive workplace. There is a lot of emphasis put on personal needs and we discourage overtime, because we know how important work-life balance is.
Furthermore, you can count on, among other things:
- A good, market-based salary;
- 31 days off and 8% vacation allowance;
- Possibility to work from home, maximum 2 days a week.
- A good pension plan at Zwitserleven;
- The opportunity to follow training and courses through the Demcon Academy, or externally, so you can further develop your knowledge;
- A laptop and mobile phone from work;
- Bicycle plan;
